Velocity measurements have been obtained by laser Doppler velocimetry (LDV) inside and downstream of a transparent tumble adaptor, under steady flow conditions, in order to characterise the tumble-generating capacity of four-valve cylinder heads used in modern spark-ignition petrol engines.
